Peter McGuill, Ph.D. is the Director of the V. G. Young Institute of County Government. Raised on the family ranch in Refugio and Goliad Counties, Peter received his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Sam Houston State University in 1996, a Masters of Agriculture from Texas A&M University in 2006, and a Doctorate in Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication in 2015. He served as a County Extension Agent for 16 years in Matagorda, Atascosa, Wharton and Victoria Counties before being appointed Director of the V.G. Young Institute in 2015. The V.G. Young Institute of County Government is a part of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and The Texas A&M University System. Located in College Station, the Institute works to meet the educational needs of county officials and the public by anticipating, identifying and addressing the challenges and opportunities faced by Texas county government. The Institute fulfills this charge by offering various educational programs, published reference materials and counsel to county officials, community organizations, and citizens across the state. |
